Careers at My Path
A career at MY PATH is more than just earning a paycheck. All of our staff are passionate about our mission of building confidence and independence in individuals with disabilities while fostering the courage and perseverance to accomplish their goals. Our flexible work schedules, competitive pay, ability to work virtually, and sense of community in our workforce make MY PATH a wonderful place to spend time making a meaningful difference in someone else's life.
Most of our staff work as either Job Coaches or Employment Specialists. We often cross-train individuals so they can work in either role.
Job Coach
Job Coaches help clients improve their job skills and achieve their career/life goals. MY PATH relies on job coaches to interact with clients and offer them a variety of guidance from developing their Action Plan, setting SMART goals, and teaching skills to on-the-job support to help individuals obtain, and maintain employment. Qualities required for the position include strong organizational and communication skills, empathy, teamwork, patience, flexibility, a high level of professionalism, and experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Employment Specialist
MY PATH relies on Employment Specialists to establish a trusting relationship with each individual and help them understand their rights in the workplace. They then use this information to assist the client in finding a job or work experience that matches their goals. Employment Specialists also liaise with referral sources such as Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) and can provide guidance and assistance to a client and their employer once work is found. Some essential duties of an Employment Specialist may include guidance on benefit opportunities, helping the client search for positions, resume creation, interview preparation, and overseeing follow-up support to assist the client in maintaining their employment. Qualities required for the position include an understanding of the labor market, a high school diploma or GED, excellent time management, basic managerial skills, and the ability to take a client's prospective and see through their eyes.
